THE MOST COMPETITIVE CLASS IN OFFSHORE RACING

The 2026 ROAR Offshore event features an exclusive showcase of APBA Super Stock racing. But what exactly is Super Stock, and why do spectators love it?

Super Stock represents the ultimate test of execution and racecraft. The class features enclosed-cockpit catamarans measuring 28 to 32 feet, powered by strictly regulated twin 300-horsepower Mercury Racing outboards. Because the equipment is tightly controlled—with boats weighing exactly 4,900 pounds and engine speeds limited to 6,500 rpm—success comes down to the skill of the two-person crew: the driver and the throttleman.

Unlike larger, heavier classes like Super Cat or Class 1 that rely on massive inboard horsepower to reach 140–160 mph, Super Stock boats run at a thrilling 80 to 100+ mph. The result is intense, side-by-side racing where boats fly over the waves in tight packs. It is agile, aggressive, and incredibly exciting to watch from the shoreline.
